Damsels of DDO Episode 32, Amrath

The Damsels of DDO are a group of girl gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online.  The Damsels headed to Amrath in the plane of Shavarath this week and watched several plays involving Silver Flame and The Twelve representatives in distress. Remember, it’s duck, weave, duck!  Thanks so much for listening!

  • The Damsels of DDO Recorded Live on Wednesday January 6th, 2015 at 11:00 PST. This is our 32nd show.
    • What do you do when you realize not everyone in your party can run Epic Challenges?
      • Have to be careful, even in Epic Challenges, you will get dinged for XP unless you are at level or above.
    • I did not do any Party Crashers this week…
    • Myth is a liar!  Last show she promised to level.
      • in her defense…I have found it harder to solo-level as a squishy
      • not in her defense…who says you have to solo???

  • Before we start!
    • Doctor Who
      • Thanks Cordovan for sending us the Dr. Who song/ video!
      • The Wedding of River Song
        • No spoilers for this one, but the Doctor is damn clever, finding loopholes in any situation.
      • The Widow and the Wardrobe
        • Another brilliant Christmas episode.  The widow picks the lock on the police call box and makes it look easy!  lols.  “Suddenly the last 900 years of time travel don’t seem so secure.”
        • Also, I felt like if we could see the Doctor as a kid, his room would have been decorated the way he did it for these kids.  Very cool!
      • A Town Called Mercy
        • Firstly, the Doctor looks amazing in a Stetson.  It pissed me off that episode where River shot his hat off his head.  I just never said that.
        • Second.  The old west/ 19th century Southern accents were GREAT. Those are hard to nail, even for people from the south, and I was really impressed.
        • Now we talk gun safety.  “Everyone who isn’t an American, drop your weapon..” because Amy was pointing and shooting everywhere on accident.  Seriously though, you can’t leave your finger on the trigger while you’re talking.  And never point a gun at anyone unless you intend to shoot them.  That’s just rude!
          • One last thing on that, about 25 people a year are injured due to “celebratory gunfire”.  Don’t do that.  That’s why fireworks were invented.
    • Anime – Free! Iwatobi Swim club has a dub on Crunchy Roll and it made me very happy to relive season one in English.
      • On a related note, my son is making me a graphic of the characters from this anime using M&M’s characters.

Here’s the thing, I guess I kinda sorta remember something about leveling up to 21. But the thing about it is that I didn’t remember about it until someone said something about how I can’t get into the epic challenges if I’m only 20. So… we went to Amrath.

Weapons Shipment

OK! There is something very important to remember about this place, the place to which weapons are shipped. There is a girl in here and this girl is sort of erratic. I mean, she says she is there to pick up some weapons and she needs some help but then she runs really fast ahead and after that she sort of saunters down the hallway. And you better pay attention to her because if she gets herself killed you are going to get yourself booted out of that place. And there is no arguing the point either. Boom, out you go! I know this for a fact because that is what happened to us. It all happened very fast, so fast in fact that had I not just spent the last 5 minutes talking about it we could probably have not even mentioned it and no one would have noticed. So that happened. We killed waves and waves of mean guys, bad guys, and monsters. Out of three chests we got zero named loot. Just sayin.

Sins of Attrition

Sahba was hanging in Amrath long before Lessah and I got out there because Lessah and I were trying to figure out which thing we were going to make each other twist in our epic destiny twisty thing. While Sahba was there we talked to a guy named Wakhakwi and he told her some convoluted story about about a citadel where some of the devil army Brigadiers had made their home. He also said this is the place where they bring troops they have found to be disloyal to punish them. He said he wanted us to kill one of the Brigadiers and he didn’t even care which one. It all sounded pretty strange to me. I mean, why just one and why doesn’t it matter which one? I still don’t get it but this place was near the place where the weapons came in so we went over there and killed one guy. Well, I say guy but it was really an Orthon and I say we but it is more like the royal form of we since I didn’t really kill much of anything in either of these places. I did give everything I could a great big hug and tossed some boulders at them. Sorcbarian for the win! OK, for the fun!

Wrath of the Flame

Another thing Sahba heard about while she was waiting for us to show up was that there was an adventurer’s camp over near the hall of the Third Legion where the adventurer’s were getting attacked by the Silver Flame. Lessah said she didn’t believe it and Sahba said “Let’s go over there and find out!” so off we went.  I have to say it certainly looked like that’s what was going on. They had people (and other things) imprisoned under force fields and a lot of fighting was going on. Inquisitor Lightbringer was giving a rather disturbing speech when we arrived which caused us to get into a fight immediately. It was obvious that Lessah was very disturbed about what was going on and her conscious was giving her a tough time as she fought her Silver Flame buddies (who knew? heh heh). It wasn’t long before we realized that this wasn’t the Silver Flame at all but a clever disguise perpetrated by the succubus, Malicia, and her group of spies. After we had plowed our way through the spies we came to a room with several Inquisitor Lightbringers held under force fields. I thought we were going to have a tough time finding the real one but Lessah managed to pick her out right away! We made short work of Malicia and the last of her spies. Oh, and I actually killed some things in here. Hey, a Sorcbarian can only give so many big hugs, then you gotta kill stuff.

  • Fanservice Experiment has started!  Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help me test the rules out!  I plan to run another three sessions with the volunteers and then open things up.
