Damsels of DDO Episode 92, Disciples of Rage

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. There is nothing like a shopping excursion with the Damsels, especially at night! The girls pursued the Night Market in House Jorasco this week and found a ton of great deals! If deals are really senseless violence and killing innocent/ crazy people. This and the Saltire District are not places anyone should live, like ever. Thanks so much for listening!

The Damsels of DDO Recorded Live on Sunday, June 24th 2AM Eastern. This is our 92nd show!

Lessah jibberjabbers about things and Myth corrects and Sahba sleeps

    • The Auction House is still a place you can get loot stuff!
      • Level 15 gloves are on my hands no more!
    • So…Crystal Cove? When is that going to be a thing?
    • What we learned this week:
      • Lessah: I learned the only thing standing between madness and Stormreach is the beacon.
      • Myth: I learned, if you binge watch something On Demand on a channel where “fast forward may be unavailable” you will end up watching the same 6 commercials about 150 times.
      • Sahba: I don’t understand people – no wait, I guess I already knew that :).

Rumors, News, and Lies

  • Before we start!  Spoiler!!!
    • RuPaul’s Drag Race –  Winner Aquaria, who’s surprised? OK maybe me but only a tiny little bit.
      • Asia Ohara got ROBBED. She was more professional, polished, etc. Aquaria is really good and has some fashion forward looks but Asia is on point and professional. (also she’s from Dallas)
      • Loved that Money Exchange got Miss Congeniality and had a green and yellow dress on like her sponge.
    • Cloak and Dagger
      • This is the only show I have watched. I like it? I’d like to see them “together”
    • Ghost Wars 🙂
    • America’s Test Kitchen – A Tale of Two Rice and Beans

Disciples of Rage

First I want to say that I really liked all of the quests we did last night. I liked them a lot and I think we need to do them again soon. I also think we might have gone though a little too quickly because we seemed to have missed things.

OK, evidently that big dude holding the light over stormreach is known as the emperor. Maybe everyone already knew that, I didn’t. As far as I know it is always on and has always been on. Apparently that is the case since it seems that it is a huge problem when the thing goes out. As I understand it, a cure was place on the citizens of Stormreach at some point and that big old light is the only thing keeping them from killing each other.

Night Falls on Stormreach – We were in house Jorasco last night where they were have a guard appreciation party at one of the taverns. There were quite a lot of people at the tavern and around the neighborhood. We walked around and Lessah talked to everyone she came in contact with as usual. I think she was even flirting with some kobolds. I saw Fred there, here was in disguise and practicing at being “human”. He still needs a LOT of practice. While we were wandering around in the tavern with the partying guards I think that big light of protection was snuffed out because everyone went nuts. We had to kill a bunch of guards! It was crazy. Oh, and Sahba put a throne in her pocket.

Things we missed – there was a puzzle that turns off some air jets, talking to Fred twice will pacify the rioters (can get into the tavern from the roof where the puzzle is to bypass some rioters).

Loot – ML 29, BTA

Legendary Stormreach Guardian’s Crossbow Repeating Light Crossbow
Legendary Mighty Stormreach Guardian’s Helm Helm
Legendary Beacon of Night Heavy Mace
Legendary Construct Champion’s Bands Bracers
Legendary Stormreach Guardian’s Axe Dwarven War Axe

Quarantine – Then we ran into Elsa d’Jorasco and she said she had a plan to “calm” everyone down until things could get sorted so we said we would help her. I think Elsa put some drugs in that place, not sure why we weren’t affected, but that place was a sick foggy green. And then basically we went in and I held them and Sahba and Lessah bonked them on the head. It was fine. We were supposed to find a drow elf that was immune but we never saw him/her. I think it was still a success.

Loot – ML 29, BTA

Legendary Unbreakable Stormreach Guardian’s Helm Helm
Legendary Quarantine Rune Arm
Legendary Cursed Skull Orb
Legendary Hands of House Jorasco Gloves
Legendary Stormreach Guardian’s Hammer War Hammer

The Madness of Crowds – Our old pal Brawnpits. Yet again he has us running all over looking for things for him. He sure has a way of making a person feel like a gopher. This is one we really need to do again. I know it was late for Sahba so we went fast but there are so many things to do in here and I think it looks fun do we should make a point to repeat soon. Plus when we finished I was surprised. I have no idea why we were done. 🙂 It’s good thing this quest is outside because Brawnpits’ head is enormous!

Loot – Ml 29, BTA

Legendary Wild Frost Sickle
Legendary Scales of the Exile Full Plate
Legendary Giant’s Platter Large shield
Legendary Hunter of Wilds Short Bow
Legendary Wild Flame Sickle

Sunrise

We went to the Abbey to talk to the Abbot. After locating the key for some really strange guys we went in and found the Abbot. He seemed quite pleased with himself and what he was doing there and insisted that we read his journals so we could learn of his good works with the poor unfortunates and diseased people in his community. We implied that we would and took off to give ourselves a little tour of the place.

The place was of medium size and had some interesting things in it, including its residents. We did end up reading his journal, the pages of which were scattered around from room to room. We learned that the strange looking guys were people who had leprosy that he had experimented on by replacing parts with various animal parts. We also ran into a girl standing in a room who appeared to have been in one heck of a sword fight. Like maybe some super fast rapier moves or something. She didn’t speak to us but before we left we found out that he had “made” her to be the gift of a bride for Strahd. So her face was made from several different women.

We were standing in the garden, which was quite lovely, talking to a lady with a pretty coat and watching a rather odd reunion between two lovers when Strahd decided to show up. Apparently we had done something to upset him because he arrived angry and a fight ensued immediately. We were fighting next to a relatively sizeable pond (for the size of the yard) and eventually we ended up in the water. Wow! We should have been there the whole time! Turns out that pond is full of holy water!!

Loot – mL 29, bound to account on acquire.

Legendary Plateshard Belt Belt
Legendary Kindred Spirit Light Armor
Legendary Burnscar Sash Belt
Legendary Disciple of the Dawn Outfit
Legendary Gauntlets of Innate Arcanum Gloves

Old Baba’s Hut – No flagging required. A house sat on me and killed me. The end.

But really, we walked in to see what was in there and we saw Baba seated in a very large skull in front of her hut. She cackled and taunted us for a moment and then her hut stood up and walked over to me and sat on my head. Then it proceeded to rinse and repeat for Sahba and Lessah.

  • I got my license and now my job won’t stop asking me to pick up shifts. I went from working once every week and a half to four-five shifts a week overnight! The good news is, I can ask off when I need it. It doesn’t mean I’ll get it. When they call and ask me to cover a shift, I never say no. I’m weak and poor.
    • I also got locked out of my email. Anyone who tried to email me in the last 6-8 weeks. I didn’t get it. It’s all straightened out now, though!
  • Mythery – PLease make the cold spells work at least 50% of the time and design some pretty shoes. Thanks. 🙂

Damsels of DDO Episode 89, Wrath of the Earth

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. The Damsels went back to Ravenloft where we freed more birds and picked up stolen jewels. Why does Ravenloft have so many scarecrows when there are no crops to guard? Why do all the Ravens in Ravenloft talk like they are regular people in disguise? All these questions and more get answered in this show! Thanks so much for listening!

Wrath of the Earth

We talked to this person named Grilsha Targolova who told us to go to Yester Hill. It seems that evil druids have erected a statue of Strahd on this hill and come here to worship him… or it …or both. Anyway, Grilsha thought they may have hidden one of Martikov’s magic gems that had been stolen here and wanted us to see if we could find it.

When we got to the hill the first thing we saw was some pretty impressive lightning. It made a big ring around the top of the hill. As we went around looking for an opening we were attacked by a variety of Blight (twig, vine, needle), Mountain Folk, and Druid. After we had killed a number of these things the ring of lightning dropped down and we could see another ring so we went about doing the same thing. Shortly after we began again a small section dropped down and in we went. We could see the large statue of Strahd from where we entered and several evil druid bent over in worship. While it might not be all that nice to attack a guy who is bent over in prayer it sure does make the job go quicker. We found the gem where they had put it, at the feet of their master.

Raven’s Bane –

So, the story is that there was a village called Berez out in the mists somewhere and the people who lived there refused to bow down to Strahd’s will and because of their defiance he turned their town into a swamp. Well, mostly….there are a few little pieces of things here and there but for the most part…yup it’s a swamp. But after this little tirade of the great and powerful Strahd there was someone who thought Berez would be a great place to live. A witch named Baba Lysaga.

We talked to Muriel Vinshaw and she seemed to think that Baba had been up to all sorts of terrible misdeeds. One things she had done was imprison some ravens in cages out around in the swamp and also that she had one of Martikov’s magic gems that had been stolen. So we put on our galoshes and went out to tromp around in the swamp looking for a witch. Oh, and some ravens. We did find the ravens one by one in their solitary cages, as we killed hordes of scarecrows and howlers. Dretch dot the landscape here and there but there seemed to be an endless supply of scarecrows. We finally came upon the little house of the witch which was definitely bigger on the inside. It was filled with an odd assortment of things some interesting, some just weird, I slipped and fell into a tub of blood. Was she expecting Strahd for dinner? There was a chest which proved to be holding one of the missing gems and when it was discovered Baba chose to make her appearance. Oooh baby! This witch is a party animal! I’ve never seen so many dancing balls in one place. She filled that room up! I don’t know how, but Brec and I managed to stay out of them and kept pounding on her but she was smart. As soon as she knew there was no way she was going to win this fight she took off and left us there with all of those balls still rocking and a bunch of brooms that wanted to kill us,

Damsels of DDO Episode 88, Save the Wine!

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. Ravenloft just keeps getting weirder. If people aren’t turning into birds or throwing awkward tea parties, they are keeping the pride and carelessness of wayward adventurers in amber. Seriously, we fought our own flaws in this quest! The best thing that happened this week was when the Damsels saved an entire winery! I mean, where would Barovia be if they couldn’t wash down Soylent Green Pot Pie with wine instead of boring old water? Thanks so much for listening!

Housekeeping!

  • I’m in my last two weeks of school. My schedule will get better but quite a bit more chaotic because my job isn’t exactly stable. This next show should be ok but I can’t promise anything. Not until after May 12th.
  • Mythery – I learned that soon we won’t be getting a birthday present at all. Seriously, we used to get a choice of something really nice and useful for each and every character we owned. Then two or three years ago we got something nice but for only one of our people. This year we got a cosmetic item. Granted, each of our guys got one but come on… I don’t mean to be rude to whoever designed these but don’t go into fashion design. Blech! How about a choice. Or how about making it awesome looking. I know you know how to do it because the cosmetics for sale in the store vary in price and the nice looking stuff is the most expensive. My point is that you know if it looks good and this “present” would not sell in the store. Honestly though, I don’t understand at all why we have gone from getting something useful for each character to this. It isn’t like DDO is putting money in my bank account by doing this. Or a better point, they aren’t taking it out of theirs. If I am the type to spend my money in the store, a gift is not going to stop me from spending and if I am not, getting a taste of something I could purchase might actually get me to buy something. And even if it didn’t it would change nothing as far as what DDO is putting in their pockets. They wouldn’t be losing anything and would be making people happy. So I don’t get it! And yes I know complaining about a present isn’t cool and isn’t really something I have ever done but THEY started it not me and I happen to have a strong opinion about it.

A Mad Tea Party

We were invited to a party!! I was told it would be a tea party so I had my best pinky ring on and all but of course not a one of us got even a sip of tea. What did happen, which seems to be a more normal thing than us actually having some tea, is that we found ourselves between two feuding nobles. Lady Wachter and Baron Vallakovich, who by all outward appearances seemed to be getting along just fine, each wanted us to do something … well let’s just say, not too nice to the other. We weren’t too sure exactly what we were going to do and just started to wander around Lady W’s place. Soon we found ourselves in a tunnel that links their two houses together. There were some barriers up to keep people for passing through easily but we solved some puzzles and dropped them. The first thing we saw at Baron V’s was the dungeon where he had his prisoners locked up. Apparently holding a sign with not so nice comments about the Baron gets you locked up around there. We let them go. Next we told one of his guards that we would help him out. We followed him thinking we would just take the Baron’s side, even though we did let his prisoner’s go but after we passed the cells and got back into the tunnel the guard turned on us and we had to kill him. I’m not sure what his problem was. I think it was around then we decided that we weren’t going to be on anyone’s side. The only thing left to do was to go and take out Lady W and Baron V. I guess it was a pretty good party after all, even if we never did get any of the promised tea.

Damsels of DDO Episode 86, What are Feather Keepers?

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. Puzzles and overprotective moms abound in this week’s adventure. The puzzles we understand but when your son who is “a man grown” goes into a vampire’s castle, it’s time to let go. Seriously, when your son sprouts wings, it’s time let him fly. They all leave the nest eventually. Right? Mom’s are really just the wind beneath their wings. Okay, joke over. Gotta fly! Thanks so much for listening!

He starts lying to protect his daughter. But there is no reason to think that he wouldn’t get to keep his daughter. He didn’t do anything wrong and the grandfather world want to protect his grandbaby.

Oath of Vengeance

Crazy feather keepers? What? So this one guy in the Blue Water Inn is rambling about somethings and I can’t understand about half of what he is saying but he sends me over to another guy, Rudolph van Richten, who by the way is a vampire hunter and he say he wants us to go see another guy about a dragon head. This other guy, Zigmund Kovalev, another feather keeper (not sure what’s up with that) wants us to deliver the skull of a silver dragon to yet another guy inside Argynvostholt. Suuuure why not! Actually this was a ton of fun! Argynvosholt is amazing! This place has hidden doors, hidden chests, and a huge light puzzle that unlocks a chest. So cool! Oh yeah, we took the weirdo his dragon skull. The bunch of revenants in that place, whack whack whack we killed them all.

Damsels of DDO Episode 85, Invitation to Dinner

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. I think it might have taken us all night if it weren’t for dumb luck and also people screaming at us on the live stream. Spoilers! Thanks so much for listening!

An Invitation to Dinner

Wow that place is big! I loved this quest and I can’t wait to do it again. So many things to do and see! Not to mention the XP!!! I got about 128k, with a pot, but still. There are 10 optionals in here plus the quest objectives change depending on which cards Madam Eva draws. I noticed by looking at the stream that Lessah could see cards pop up on her screen as they were drawn. I thought that was pretty cool. First I want to comment on this dinner invite, there was a long beautiful table set with nice shiny dishes and not a bit of food in sight! That should have been our first clue that something was amiss. I guess that’s why we didn’t stick around in the dining room for very long. It’s pretty easy to get turned around in there and since we had friends with us, there were time when we were all over the place. You can only see one tower on the map at a time but getting back on track wasn’t too challenging. I want to say that the ghosts and other things are really tough but I was something like 8 levels below quest level so maybe they were just normal tough. We were in there a long time and were ready to get out of there which made us try to avoid doing the last optional (since we had done all of the others). As it turns out, in order to get out you have to run right up on the last optional. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

Desire in the Dark

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. This week we finished the Eveningstar Saga by rescuing some dwarves from their gold! Word to the wise, dwarves don’t like to be separated from their gold. In the end, we talked them into it, mostly because they were dead! Thanks so much for listening!

Desire in the Dark

Here is what I desired, a shower, a clean robe, and a new pair of shoes. The place looked so nice to start with too! So pretty, fancy buildings, plush lawns, sparkly mirrors, and shiny gold around every corner. But things seemed to get slimy and dirtier by the minute. We met a group of dwarves guarding a bunch of piles of gold and several chests. They said we could pass by if we didn’t touch anything but…well, I think I must have accidentally touched some of the gold because those dwarves got all hot and started yelling at us and fighting and what could we do? We had to kill them. Those chests were just a bunch of mimics anyway, they should have thanked us. Sheesh. After that I felt all gross and seriously needed a shower.

Pretty soon we came to what I think was like the courtyard for the castle, it was beautiful. There was a guy there, or at least I think it was a guy, could have been a girl I suppose. Anyway, he/she/it was a shapeshifter and I think something or someone was also altering the perception of everything else in this place. So who knows what it really looked like. We defended a mindflayer who was having his own mind scrambling problems since the person he thought he was mind blowing was really a demon and not just a regular person. I’m not sure he deserved saving but the demon didn’t deserve our help so I guess the mindflayer was the lesser of the two evils. The main problem with these guys was that they were under a bridge in a bunch of muck and mindflayer puke, totally ruined my shoes. Yuck!

When we reached the castle we walked right through the looking glass and into a worm infested castle. And what big worms you have my dear. They spit something nasty all over me and as if I wasn’t filthy enough already, I was drenched from head to toe with worm snot. There were pillars in the passages where the worms were with “handprint” runes to press that brought down a barrier for us to pass through and to also use a much needed shrine. Across from the barrier was a large glowing ball of sorts which Lessah managed to press or do something with and when she did it filled her with overconfidence. Let’s just say we all had some rather unpleasant flashbacks.

We stepped through another mirror and came face to face with the architect of this little game, Graz’zt. He gave a little speech and then like most windbags he disappeared. We found ourselves in a mirror maze, dotted with dancing succubi. Finding him was easier than we thought it would be and killing him seemed that it was to be easier than we thought as well. And it would have been if the joker hadn’t disappeared again just before the killing blow. He even blew us a kiss on his way out. He better hope I don’t meet him in dark alley, he owes me an outfit!!

Night Revels

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. Remember, it’s all fun and games until you hit someone in the head with a pumpkin! Thanks so much for listening!

Night Revels

This is in Delera’s Graveyard, in House Jorasco. Characters can enter one of several instances of Delera’s Graveyard, each with a different level range: Shared, Levels 1-5, Levels 4-9, Levels 8-13, Levels 12-17, Levels 16-20, Levels 20-25, and Levels 26-30!

When defeating monsters in the Graveyard, characters can receive Darkest Chocolate, which is used as a base ingredient for many recipes, or a Night Revels Key, which is used to enter one of the dungeons. You can also use a Draught of Midnight to get a chance to acquire Night Revels ingredients any time you defeat an undead creature, whether in the Graveyard or not. Additionally, Night-Black Coffee restores Hit Points and Spell Points while in a public area.

  • Haverdashed – Provides Black Apples
  • The Kobold’s Newest Ringleader – Provides Shadowy Caramel
  • The Snitch and the Lich – Provides Pinches of Sinister Cinnamon
  • Under New Ravagement – Provides Spooky Almonds
  • Hayweird Foundry – Can provide any Night Revels crafting ingredient
  • Getting Ahead in Lordsmarch Plaza – Can provide any Night Revels crafting ingredients
  • Resurrection Chamber – Can provide Black Apples

The quests also provide Darkest Chocolate when completed.

  • The Night Revels Keys stack in your character inventory up to 10 per slot.
  • If you destroy too many undead too many levels below your own level, you will get a warning from the Greater Powers, Mabar’s Notice. If you persist, you’ll be punished for your actions with Mabar’s Interest, then with Mabar’s Anger, then with death.

  1. Being the first person to successfully attack a creature that then dies.
  2. Being on the creature’s hate list when that creature dies.

If you are the first person to attack a creature that dies, a random person in that person’s group has a chance to receive a key or chocolate.

If you kill a creature, and are not the first person to attack the creature, you are not considered for the random chance to drop keys or chocolate.

If you are on the creature’s hate list, but not the first person to attack the creature, a random person in that person’s group has a chance to receive a key or chocolate.

Challenge – (based on an existing quest;)
Under New Ravagement (Stand Your Ground)
The Snitch and the Lich (The Snitch)
The Kobolds’ Newest Ringleader (The Kobolds’ New Ringleader)
Haverdashed (Haverdasher)
Getting Ahead in Lordsmarch Palace (Eyes of Stone)
Hayweird Foundry (Haywire Foundry)
Resurrection Chamber (The Coalescence Chamber)
  • These “challenges” are actually played like quests and have no set time limit; you can zerg through and finish within minutes or can go AFK in the instance and complete hours later.
  • Named mob kills within the instance have a chance to drop Chocolate.
  • For Under New Ravagement, The Snitch and the Lich, The Kobold’s Newest Ringleader, and Haverdashed:
    • Killing the End Boss awards 8 Chocolates on any level.
    • Final ingredient payout:
      • At level, you get 3 ingredients per star, up to a total of 15 ingredients.
      • If you enter the challenge at a level greater than your character level, you get +10% more rewards per level, up to a maximum of +50% (total: 23) for running the challenge at character level + 5 (maximum ingredient payout: 23).
  • For Getting Ahead in Lordsmarch Palace and Hayweird Foundry:
    • Final ingredient payout:
      • (2017) You will gain score every time you gain a star. And you will get rewards equal to that score. At level, your base score (you can gain up till if you are inside whole time) is 6. Other level base score is +2=7, +4=8, +5~+8=9. So maximum reward payout is 9.
      • At level, you get one of each ingredient (including chocolate) per star, up to a total of 5
      • If you enter the challenge at a level greater than your character level, you get +10% more rewards per level, up to a maximum of +50% for running the challenge at character level + 5, rounded up (maximum ingredient payout: 8).
        • Rewards of up to 11 have been observed, though the mechanic (if any) for getting extra ingredients is currently unknown, and may be a bug that will be fixed.
  • For Resurrection Chamber:
    • Final ingredient payout:
      • At level, each objective grants you the following score (total 20):
        • Slay the undead in the temple: 2
        • Slay Zanaduul, the Night Hag: 6
        • All others: 4
      • If you enter the challenge at a level greater than your character level, you get +10% more rewards per level, up to a maximum of +50% (total: 30) for running the challenge at character level + 5.
  • A late-coming player who missed some objectives should not end the quest. The ingredient payout will be scaled by his rating. The experience for stars seems unaffected by this [Unverified].

All ingredients (Chocolate, Almond, Apple, Caramel and Cinnamon) and Night Revels Key state in their item description that they will expire and disappear near the end of the current year. So players cannot carry over these ingredients for this event next year and have to start over again. What actually happens is the name is changed; for instance, the keys now become rusty and can no longer be used.

Store-purchased Lasting Night Revels Keys (Bound to Account) won’t expire and carry over to next year.

Damsels of DDO Episode 77, Damsels on Ice

The Damsels on Ice

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. This week, Bachlagore from Friday’s on Ice joins us for some drow on dwarf action. Word to the wise, don’t let the dwarf lead the search party because they will fall into a large pool of acid and change the entire plotline of the story! Thanks so much for listening!

Intro:

  • The Damsels of DDO Recorded Live on Sunday, October 15th 2AM Eastern. This is our 77th show!

Lessah jibberjabbers about things and Myth corrects and Sahba sleeps [zzzzz]:

    • The wait is over, Break over!
      • It’s time to get serious about fantasy!
        • If you are joining us in the chatroom, be sure to type your name in so we can enter you for the DDO Point drawing at the end of the show! (I found some points when I was cleaning out my email!)
      • I rolled a cleric for my third life in my Permadeath static group on Ghandalla and I took divine destiny, but I can’t remember what it is or why I took it. I am so ready to heal my party!

    • What we learned this week:
      • Lessah: Bachlagore is REALLY fun to quest with!
        • I also learned that racey D&D stories make me discombobulated and confused for the entire quest.
      • Myth: I learned how to give my cat, Chance, insulin shots.
      • Sahba: I learned Lessah only likes racey D&D stories if it’s her characters that are involved :P.  AND Lessah does not like commas.
      • Bachlagore: ?

Rumors, News, and Lies

  • Before we start!
    • EMAIL FROM STINGER DDO
      • THANK YOU for emailing and explaining the photo’s on the Doctor’s desk! He said it was the first doctor’s companion and granddaughter.
      • On that note, I’m on Episode 5 of season ten, “Oxygen” and it looks like the Doctor doesn’t even know why Nardole is watching him, because the guy’s like: “I was given strict orders to keep you at the University” and the Doctor says: “Who gave you that order?” and Nardole says: “You did.” I’m thinking that will shake out down the road.
    • Bladerunner 2049 – if you are thinking about seeing it, you should go see it! I LOVED IT! It’s not for everyone but I thought it was great and there were a lot of things in the movie I didn’t see coming and lots of callbacks to the original Bladerunner.
    • OUTLANDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (we can’t talk about all of it because Of HOUSE DIVIDED)
      • We have to talk… I have issues
        • Scottish Robinhood aka “Red Jaimie” Is he the only red-headed Scottish dude in the land? Like…could you mix him up with the 10,000 other redhaired hotties in the country or is he a genetic anomaly?
        • Gun safety in the 18th century is just as important as it is today…
          • Just goes to show that kids ruin EVERYTHING!
            • Jaimie: Don’t follow me! Kid: “Follows Jaimie to hideout and nearly gets Jaimie caught”
            • Jaimie: Stay away from this gun, Kid: takes the gun and shoots a bird right next to a british officer. On what planet is this a good idea?
            • Also… WHY WON’T YOU AGE LITTLE FRENCH BOY?! WHY?????
        • I love that Frank was finally getting some sexy time but…
          • I have to take Claire’s side first. He’s having sex with her, and he’s like…open your eyes. She’s like… dude, I’m trying to concentrate here, leave me alone!
        • Now we have to fight…
          • Claire tells Frank he can have a lady on the side as long as he’s discrete. Then she gets irritated when he actually goes and does it. Granted, it was poor planning on his part to bring the other woman over so quickly when she and her friends hadn’t left for the restaurant yet, but I call foul on her feeling even a shred of jealousy.
    • Riverdale!
      • We can’t talk about it because of the aforementioned reasons…

The Mines of Tethyamar

A while back we did Third Times the Charm so last night we decided to attack a few more of these quests. We did, Graveyard Shift, Records of the Past, and Strike Back. There is one left that I imagine we will get around to at some point called Desire in the Dark but I think that needs to wait for a while.

So, this is what happened or pretty close to it as I recall. Lessah said that we were supposed to meet our friend Bachlagore over in Eveningstar and Sahba and I thought that was a cool idea so we went over on her airship as far as we could go and then teleported the rest of the way. When we got there Lessah and he were already there and in a place called the Tethyamar Mines Outpost aka the Jewels of Ardor. Actually they were in a bar located in the mine area and Bachlagore was chatting up one of his dwarven friends named Hagen. Did I mention he was a dwarf? Anyway, his buddy was going on about this other guy, Egil Hakon, who went bat crap crazy and went about killing everyone down in the mine with him. Everyone except for Hagen and a few of his friends anyway. After a few rounds of “kill them until they’re dead, rah!” we were somehow talked into going in mineshaft 214S to look for this Hakon dude and get justice for the fallen men. I have to point out that while the finding and slaying of Mr. Egil Hakon did not take very long at all, it would have been even quicker had it not been that the undead remains of the fallen comrades were impeding our progress at every turn whilst trying to kill us! They are a thankless bunch. Just thankless.

After finishing that little chore Lessah, Bach, and I ran off to the bar and when we came out Sahba was walking away from a man who appeared to have been standing alone. She was shaking her head from side to side and had an odd look on her face. I asked her who it was and she said his name was Freygar Plumbline. She still had the puzzled look on her face so I asked her what was wrong and she explained that several weeks ago she had been talking to someone who had told her that they had heard there was a big library out here, which she thought that sounded crazy. Why would there be a library in a mine? But since there are a lot of things out here besides of just some holes in the ground she thought she may as well ask someone about it. When she did she got an ear full about some artifact called the Master Manifest. Which is supposed to be located deep within one of Tethyamar’s abandoned libraries. So apparently there are libraries, just not ones that are actually in use. It seems that the dwarves think there is some remarkable treasure located here in the mines and this manifest will be the key to unlocking the secret of locating this treasure. Not knowing how to find the treasure is only part of the dwarves problem. The other part is that the Drow are after it as well. Sahba says the guy tells her this manifest is in a place called Ironvale Deep and she thinks we should go help try to find it before the Drow get to it. I think she just wanted to get a look at this big old library. I must admit, it was pretty cool looking it there and we had to solve a reasonably slick puzzle to enter the place where the manifest was hidden. I didn’t know dwarves made puzzles like that. Once we found it we also found a Drow there too. We had to battle a bebilith the drow summoned before we could kill him. Which we did.

When we got out of the place I heard a lot of laughing, hooting, and hollering. Dwarves are excitable aren’t they? I looked over and Bach was grinning from ear to ear and I could see he was mouthing the chant “kill them till their dead, rah!” He came trotting up, still grinning and slightly out of breath he said “That was great guys! What’s next? We need to get those drow the hell outta there.” I shrugged and looked at Lessah, who looked at Sahba, who had her little battlemaster face on so I guess if the drow gotta go they gotta go. To the drow outpost!!!

We arrived and immediately saw a host of guards posted around the outside. I was up, I’m a drow and believe it or not skilled in the art of diplomacy so it wasn’t that hard to get us in past the guards. After that what happened, well, I’m not going to take responsibility for most of it. Maybe just a tiny piece but I didn’t start any fights. We were told to go straight in and not to make any detours. It wasn’t hard since we didn’t see any. When we got to the end we were told to wait in a room for our meeting with the High Priestess. We did go in the room but then we saw a room across the hall with a woman lounging in front of a mirror. Of course we had to go in there! Mostly what I remember about this encounter is that the woman was very cordial and complementary and wanted me to look into the mirror with her. I don’t remember much after that but I think that mirror must have been enchanted and everyone must have been looking in it too because when I came to notice what was going on again, Sahba was saying that we all were over confident and Bach was running down the corridor back to the front where we came in. Lessah and Sahba took off after him and all hell broke loose. I was told that Bach had fallen into the tar and that had caused the fray that ensued but I don’t really know since it was a while before I saw Lessah and Sahba again and even longer before Bach showed up.

Third Time’s a Charm

We were running around in the Tethyamar Mining Outpost, there is a really nice tavern over there, and Lessah starts talking to this guy named Eluf the Steadfast. What’s up with dwarves and their names anyway? Apparently this guy can’t keep up with his bros and is not any better at finding them once they are lost either. So of course, being the helpful pally that she is, Lessah tells him that we will go and find them for him. It was really quite nice looking for a mine, clean and spacious. I’m not real sure why these dwarves were so hard to locate. I think it was more that Eluf the Steadfast was more interested in saving his skin than he was saving his fellow dwarves. That place was loaded with mean and awful red eyed drow, deep crawler spiders, draegloth, umber hulk, and dretch. I guess there was an ogre but there was so much going on I didn’t notice him and I hear there is an elemental named Flare but we didn’t run into him. We found some of the dwarves in a  chamber surrounded by lava and they were all ready for us to get them out of the place but most of the missing dwarves were held together at one end of the place and had been charmed to think they were part of the Drow crew and they fought that way too! Unfortunately, the combination of the charm spell they were under and their rather gung ho fighting ability caused many of them to lose their lives during the final squirmish. Eluf still gave us something for our trouble and then continued on to tell us that we weren’t done with our obligation yet. What has Lessah gotten us into this time?!?!

Black and Blue

I guess we have a new cult in Stormreach. They are called, Cult of the Dragon Below. I guess they worship the cast off belongings of giants because they spend their time searching for Giantish artifacts. I think they hired dragons to protect them and their artifacts or maybe they worship dragons too. I’m not exactly sure but they managed to lose one of them. They had a dragon named Urgnonth protecting this site in the Xen’drick jungle and now he is missing. This lady in the marketplace, Mikyra asked us to go find out what happened to him. Did we? Yes!

He didn’t seem so lost to me and he was mean. He tried to kill us every time we saw him and he electrified the water in the pathways. Mean mean dragon.

The Chronoscope

Once upon a time, many years ago there was a big red tent in the center of the Marketplace. Inside the tent, vendors of all sorts gathered to sell their wares. There was armor, weapons, potions, reagents, wands, scrolls, and just about anything you could think of or need. Then one dark day the unthinkable happened. A horrible horde of devils and fiends came and declared war on Stormreach. The poor unsuspecting residents of Stormreach were just going about their day when portals from Shavarath started to appear in random places all over the Marketplace. This lasted for several days and then suddenly one day, a large portal formed over the big tent. It was enormous and churning like a big red whirlpool. The vendors moved out of the tent, most of them went to the Rusty Nail. It was terrifying!

Why am I telling you about this? Because this quest is about Nat Gann. Prior to this event, Nat was a pole dancer and spent his time entertaining people in the Marketplace, just outside the tent area where the pawn brokers are. But the word is, that during the invasion Nats legs were broken and then he just disappeared. His sister, Nelle, like any good sister would, wants to find him and is going to look for him. Her father, Nolan, is naturally worried about her and had asked us to go and keep her safe. To get to the Chronoscope Excavation site, which was where we thought she was, we had to take an airship from Falcon’s Spire. Once we got there we met a mindflayer and some stuff happened and we got sent back in time. Here is something I found over in the Twelve. I had a copy made. Did you know they have copiers over there? Yup, a whole room full of them! It says it’s from the Morgrave University archives — “Ancient fables speak of the Chronoscope teleporting Giant armies across Xen’drik during the Dreaming Dark war. But the Dragons of Argonnessen forbade any further use as a danger to the draconic Prophecy. It is unclear what threat such teleportation poses to the Prophecy.” I guess that has something to do with what happened. Anyway, wow I had forgotten what a mess the Marketplace was back then. We had to fight a lot of devils and abishai and some random tieflings that were running around but we did finally find Nelle. Man! She looked terrible! Lessah did something and fixed her. I don’t know but I had some talk about moisturizer. Must have been some really good stuff because it took about 50 years off of her. From here on it seemed to me like we were just running around looking everywhere. Really, behind things, under things, on things. We went through a plethora of portals, in the steam tunnels, on the roof, back and forth, forth and back. We killed a conjoined abishai, which was made of 5 other abishai but the only time we saw Nat Gann was just a mere glimpse of him being questioned in the Phoenix Tavern shortly after we arrived. So, we decided it was time to leave but Nelle had other plans and said she wasn’t going back. I was a little worried that her father would be upset with us when we showed up without her but she said she would write him a letter to explain and we left.

The Sane Asylum, etc…

We did Spies in the House and VON 3 before doing The Sane Asylum. First was Spies in the house. In house D this d’Denieth dude says he wants us to go down a road, Blood Road to be exact, just to see what is down there and if there happens to be any bad pirates we should kill them. Really? Then he says the road is “right there” and has us jump in the sewer. I knew there wasn’t any road down there but I went anyway. There wasn’t. There was a lot of jumping to be done to get out of the sewer and I’m happy to report that we did a pretty good job at that. And yes, there were some bad pirates that needed killing as well as a couple of gargoyles that had apparently been down there way too long. They were nuts.

Von 3 is same as it ever was.

The Sane Asylum is not so sane. I guess the rulers of the Twelve had placed an informant in there. To me that’s just odd to start with. He went missing. What did they expect? We were supposed to go find him and get him out. Honestly, I don’t recall seeing him. Of course I’m not so sure about what I did see so… I think there were daydreams and nightmares and supposed reality. Quite a few relatives of Fred and Fred himself and a beholder called Nurse Ratchet who was doing nasty things. Oh, I did see the right and wrong eyes but I didn’t bother them. They were crazy.

Bargain of Blood – Reaper Mode

Soooooo, I just talked about this quest. Not last time but the time before, so Sahba picked it this time so I would have nothing to say tonight. It was a little different this time though. We actually did the quest AND was did it on Reaper mode. It was only one skull but I did learn a few things in there.

  1. Going slowly really does work sometimes. OK, I already knew this but it happens so infrequently I might have forgotten.
  2. Standing 15 – 20 feet above the person trying to kill you and throwing fireballs at them is a great idea. Fine, I knew this too but it makes a lot of sense in here.
  3. Don’t let Lessah near the lost souls if you actually need them. Shoulda known this. 🙂
  4. Take a healer because trying to heal yourself is stupid.
  5. It makes me happy that maybe now I can play my healers and be appreciated again.
  6. One skull isn’t really that hard but I did notice that one of the named guys was CR 48. The quest was level 22 and we were 21.

What are some of the real features of reaper mode?

  1. Monster damage up, player damage down.
  2. Self healing, keyword “self”, waaaaaaay down. 1 skull 40% less than normal, 4% less each skull to 4% at 10 skulls!!!! Wow!
  3. Killing an enemy may result in a lost soul being dropped. Consuming (dbl click on it) it will give back sp. It is 5(base quest level+3). Hirelings can’t use them. Bummer!
  4. There is a death timer. About 6 seconds and if you run away from you stone and rubber band the timer restarts.
  5. If you leave the instance you can NOT come back and no one else can come in either (no swapping out characters or adding a new player).
  6. You get full hp, sp, and ki when entering the dungeon but this isn’t like a rest. Ex: if you have death penalties you will still have them.
  7. CC spells don’t last as long.
  8. You cannot enter a quest if you are more than six levels over the base quest level.
  9. If you are an epic level character you cannot enter a heroic level quest.
  10. XP – There is extra xp given and there are a great many things that affect how much xp is given. Check the wiki.

A little about reapers.

  1. They look like wraiths.
  2. They all wear deathblock.
  3. Don’t bother with things like trip, grease, earthquake, or any other ground type effect.

Kinds of reapers.

  • Carnage Reaper
    • Hits like a truck. Even in low level reapers, carnage reaper may one-shot you.
    • Inflicts a vulnerability debuff of 20% more damage. Stacks up to 10 times.
    • Likes to engage in melee.
  • Famine Reaper
    • Casts various spells
    • Every 10 seconds, gains a stack of Doom Caster: This caster’s spells will hit harder and fail less.
    • Affects nearby characters with Reaper: Slowing Touch: The Reaper’s touch gnaws at your form, slowing your movement and preventing tumbling. Bestowed automatically when you enter Reaper’s melee range for 4 seconds. Combat log: -50% movement, -20 melee speed, -20 ranged speed
    • Will teleport to player if it loses line of sight for long.
  • Fear Reaper
    • Has an AoE stacking DoT effect (“Fear of Death”) that damages all characters until the reaper is destroyed.
    • Has a radius around him where “Fear of Death” doesn’t apply. So, anyone within the radius of the fear reaper is safe from the effect.
    • Doesn’t like to come close to the players. Usually stays in initial position, but would like to have line of sight.
    • Has a melee attack. Hits hard, but in line with champs.
  • Plague Reaper
    • Melee. Hits like the fear reaper, but he inflicts healing debuff. Basically, trying to heal the person hit by the plague reaper is useless.
    • Will teleport if player is too far.

Loot

There are three vendors to speak to about items. Each requires a different amount of reaper experience before they will talk to you,

A few of the items you could get are:

Cosmetics

  • Cosmetic eyes
  • Cosmetic wings
  • Reaperling creature companion

Items/Benefits

Notes

  • Each of these chances should increase in likelihood for each skull of reaper being played on.
  • Applies to static named items from quests. Crafted items or end rewards don’t have this benefit.

An item with Reaper bonus gains one of the following:

Damsels of DDO EPisode 60, Tower of Frost

The Damsels of DDO are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. What could be easier and more fun than helping a landlord with one of his delinquent tenants? In this case, the tenant was a weirdo wizard with the eye of Rizia and a murder parade that came out to greet the damsels in the spirit of camaraderie. In this case camaraderie would be replaced with pointy objects and…well…things just went downhill from there. Thanks so much for listening!

    • You missed Shadowhunters?!?!? And what about Magicians? I wonder when Orphan Black is coming back and did you know this is the final season? Sad. 🙁

Tower of Frost

Loved this quest! The place is pretty big and pretty pretty. So this guy, Theobald the Antiquarian is behind on the rent for his tower and for some reason we were sent in to find him and tell him to pay up. Well. I guess we’ve done stranger things. Also, it was snowing inside of the place! He had secured himself in the top of the tower and in order to get to him we had to kill lots of monsters like; orcs, dretch, satyrs, trolls, ice mephits, ice elementals, salamanders, winter wolves, animated swords and shield, frost giants, hedges and topiaries, living disintegrate, some named things, and the best of all….CRAWLING COINAGE!

There are several things that need to be accomplished in order to finish the quest. When you get to the top of the tower there will be a portal you need to enter to get to Theobald but you can’t get in without tossing the Eye of Risia in first. There are 4 wards on the eye that maintain a little force field around it, those need to be disabled. These are located in various places on the way up. BTW that thing is COLD! Actually everything is cold. When you go to the kitchen you will find yourself in the fridge. Yes, inside of the refrigerator. There are various things to gather and use that will allow you to progress up the stairs such as; a lantern and a claim ticket. The optionals are fun too! Applying things to the altar in the summoning circle will get you a fight and a chest.

Also was pleasantly surprised to hear Jerry as the DM.
