Desire in the Dark

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. This week we finished the Eveningstar Saga by rescuing some dwarves from their gold! Word to the wise, dwarves don’t like to be separated from their gold. In the end, we talked them into it, mostly because they were dead! Thanks so much for listening!

Desire in the Dark

Here is what I desired, a shower, a clean robe, and a new pair of shoes. The place looked so nice to start with too! So pretty, fancy buildings, plush lawns, sparkly mirrors, and shiny gold around every corner. But things seemed to get slimy and dirtier by the minute. We met a group of dwarves guarding a bunch of piles of gold and several chests. They said we could pass by if we didn’t touch anything but…well, I think I must have accidentally touched some of the gold because those dwarves got all hot and started yelling at us and fighting and what could we do? We had to kill them. Those chests were just a bunch of mimics anyway, they should have thanked us. Sheesh. After that I felt all gross and seriously needed a shower.

Pretty soon we came to what I think was like the courtyard for the castle, it was beautiful. There was a guy there, or at least I think it was a guy, could have been a girl I suppose. Anyway, he/she/it was a shapeshifter and I think something or someone was also altering the perception of everything else in this place. So who knows what it really looked like. We defended a mindflayer who was having his own mind scrambling problems since the person he thought he was mind blowing was really a demon and not just a regular person. I’m not sure he deserved saving but the demon didn’t deserve our help so I guess the mindflayer was the lesser of the two evils. The main problem with these guys was that they were under a bridge in a bunch of muck and mindflayer puke, totally ruined my shoes. Yuck!

When we reached the castle we walked right through the looking glass and into a worm infested castle. And what big worms you have my dear. They spit something nasty all over me and as if I wasn’t filthy enough already, I was drenched from head to toe with worm snot. There were pillars in the passages where the worms were with “handprint” runes to press that brought down a barrier for us to pass through and to also use a much needed shrine. Across from the barrier was a large glowing ball of sorts which Lessah managed to press or do something with and when she did it filled her with overconfidence. Let’s just say we all had some rather unpleasant flashbacks.

We stepped through another mirror and came face to face with the architect of this little game, Graz’zt. He gave a little speech and then like most windbags he disappeared. We found ourselves in a mirror maze, dotted with dancing succubi. Finding him was easier than we thought it would be and killing him seemed that it was to be easier than we thought as well. And it would have been if the joker hadn’t disappeared again just before the killing blow. He even blew us a kiss on his way out. He better hope I don’t meet him in dark alley, he owes me an outfit!!
