Damsels of DDO Episode 89, Wrath of the Earth

The Damsels are three lady gamers who talk about things that are important to them in the world of Dungeons and Dragons Online. The Damsels went back to Ravenloft where we freed more birds and picked up stolen jewels. Why does Ravenloft have so many scarecrows when there are no crops to guard? Why do all the Ravens in Ravenloft talk like they are regular people in disguise? All these questions and more get answered in this show! Thanks so much for listening!

Wrath of the Earth

We talked to this person named Grilsha Targolova who told us to go to Yester Hill. It seems that evil druids have erected a statue of Strahd on this hill and come here to worship him… or it …or both. Anyway, Grilsha thought they may have hidden one of Martikov’s magic gems that had been stolen here and wanted us to see if we could find it.

When we got to the hill the first thing we saw was some pretty impressive lightning. It made a big ring around the top of the hill. As we went around looking for an opening we were attacked by a variety of Blight (twig, vine, needle), Mountain Folk, and Druid. After we had killed a number of these things the ring of lightning dropped down and we could see another ring so we went about doing the same thing. Shortly after we began again a small section dropped down and in we went. We could see the large statue of Strahd from where we entered and several evil druid bent over in worship. While it might not be all that nice to attack a guy who is bent over in prayer it sure does make the job go quicker. We found the gem where they had put it, at the feet of their master.

Raven’s Bane –

So, the story is that there was a village called Berez out in the mists somewhere and the people who lived there refused to bow down to Strahd’s will and because of their defiance he turned their town into a swamp. Well, mostly….there are a few little pieces of things here and there but for the most part…yup it’s a swamp. But after this little tirade of the great and powerful Strahd there was someone who thought Berez would be a great place to live. A witch named Baba Lysaga.

We talked to Muriel Vinshaw and she seemed to think that Baba had been up to all sorts of terrible misdeeds. One things she had done was imprison some ravens in cages out around in the swamp and also that she had one of Martikov’s magic gems that had been stolen. So we put on our galoshes and went out to tromp around in the swamp looking for a witch. Oh, and some ravens. We did find the ravens one by one in their solitary cages, as we killed hordes of scarecrows and howlers. Dretch dot the landscape here and there but there seemed to be an endless supply of scarecrows. We finally came upon the little house of the witch which was definitely bigger on the inside. It was filled with an odd assortment of things some interesting, some just weird, I slipped and fell into a tub of blood. Was she expecting Strahd for dinner? There was a chest which proved to be holding one of the missing gems and when it was discovered Baba chose to make her appearance. Oooh baby! This witch is a party animal! I’ve never seen so many dancing balls in one place. She filled that room up! I don’t know how, but Brec and I managed to stay out of them and kept pounding on her but she was smart. As soon as she knew there was no way she was going to win this fight she took off and left us there with all of those balls still rocking and a bunch of brooms that wanted to kill us,
