Damsels Game Episode 130, That Awkward Moment

The Damsels are three lady gamers who like to play games and then talk about them.  We are still trying to break into the Vault of Night in Dungeons and Dragons Online. Things went well on that front but the future is unclear. Dragons should not be guarding anything that doesn’t belong to them so good luck making a withdrawal from the bank. We also played Outlaws of the Old West, an early access survival crafting game, and we talked Sahba into trying out Guild Wars2. Thanks so much for listening!

This week, the Damsels sponsor has a correction to their advertisement for a free toaster:

The Kundarak Bank has amended its offer of a free toaster following customer complaints.

Apparently, when asked, Fred replied back with “Please include 75$ for shipping and handling.” They apologize to the one person who asked for a free toaster. Still… Send an in-game mail to “FierceFred” and ask, “Hey man, Where is my totally free, no conditions apply, toaster?”

It’s all about the language.

Guild Wars 2!!!

Sorry other games, but for the time being this is what takes up space in my head. I dream about this game. When I sleep I have dreamed about it, when I daydream I think about it, and then I actually think about it on purpose. SO, this is going to be the beginning in a series of stories I will be telling about our adventures as Asuras in the Guild Wars world. It will be fun, I promise. First let me talk a little about the world in general. There are five playable races and each begin in their own country/land of origin. BTW the world is a continent called Tyria and it is huge!

There are humans of course and were once the dominant species but they have lost their homeland and mainly live in Kryta. As you  travel the continent you can see their once magnificent kingdoms lying in ruins.

There are the Charr, who are a race of large, savage, feline creatures. War defines them and victory is all that matters. They are raised to be warriors from birth (but boy are they cute!) and have no gods. Their main hangout is the Crucible of Eternity.

Norn are a race of towering hunters and when I say towering, the average Norn is 9 feet tall. They hail from the snow covered Far Shiverpeaks but have been forced to relocate to central Shiverpeaks. The Great Lodge of Hoelbrak is a nice place to visit. Good parties.

The Sylvari are from the Grove and they aren’t born there, they awaken. They awaken beneath the Pale Tree with knowledge they have gathered from their pre-life Dream. They are a noble race and seek adventure and travel. They are the newest race in Tyria and they are about the same size as humans but have leaves where hair would be.

Asura are a race of artisans who secretly lived below ground until they were forced out by the Great Destroyer (GW1). They quickly adapted to surface life and are one of the most powerful races in Tyria. They are considered alchemagical inventors and intellectual giants. They are typical between 2’10” and 3’11” tall, slender, with head, hands, and feet in a bit exaggerated dimensions. Highly articulate ears and large eyes that come in a variety of colors. We won’t talk about the shark like teeth. Rata Sum is an interesting and amazing place and also their home.

We are playing three Asura who plan to go out and get into plenty of trouble. Sahba is an engineer, jack of all trades and eventually master of many. She is currently healing us with a healing turret. I’m a mesmer, one day I’ll be a master of misdirection. I already have three clones I can create to fight by my side. And Lessah is an assassin or maybe a thief or something that she will tell us about because I can’t find any information about assassins and their super secret stuff.

  • Other games

    • Raft

  • Outlaws of the Old West
  • This game has real potential. I wish they would do the following:
  • Clean up the crafting system so that some benches will act as duel purpose benches. Why do you need a spinning wheel and a sewing bench? Put them on the same work bench.
  • Fix Guard/ Hired gun AI. They stop following you and get bugged very easily.

  •  Guild Wars 2

    • I LOVE love love love this game. And it’s not just because Crispin Freeman’s Voice is all over the place. It is engaging and fun and I feel like I have really earned everything I have.
    • I also feel incredibly engaged by the story arcs. Don’t get me started on how much I appreciate the graphics.
